I have read all the stuff about which chapter to buy if you're a noob and I think that I have decided on Prophecies.

So, my question is, I realize that they patch the game quite regularly, add new features, content, reconnect at disconnect for example. When they do that, that kind of stuff will be for all people, not just people that bought Nightfall correct?

correct, if it's a functional change in how the game works, it's for everyone.
